Aims and objectives

Aims 

To understand what constitutes ‘liveable’ domestic space for families with children, under pandemic conditions.  

To understand the role of domestic space in alleviating and/or exacerbating the psychological and social impacts of COVID-19 on children and young people, as experienced by families.  

Objectives:  

1. To document child/adult/family experiences of physical domestic space during the COVID-19 outbreak  

2. To describe how domestic space has accommodated or hindered altered family home-life patterns during the outbreak  

3. To examine spatial interventions made by adults and children in order to alleviate psychological and social impacts of the outbreak on children and achieve a more liveable space  

4. To identify relationships between householder satisfaction levels and space-related variables (e.g. volume, typology, density)
