Dr Sandra Costa Santos

Sandra Costa Santos is Senior Lecturer in Architecture in the Department of Architecture and Urban Planning at the University of Dundee. As academic and former practitioner, her research and teaching focusses on the socio-cultural aspects of housing and domesticity. As an architect, Sandra registered with the ARB in 2002, and then with the COAG (Spain) in 2007. She practiced in UK and in Spain until 2014. While in practice, Sandra began her research career after completing her PhD in 2006. Sandra was the Principal Investigator for the AHRC-funded Place and Belonging: what can we learn from Claremont Court housing scheme? project. Home and Community, the project’s research monograph published by Routledge, brings back community studies to the architectural agenda. In the At Home with Children project, Sandra brings her expertise on housing and the qualitative interpretation of the socio-cultural workings of domesticity.
