The Research Team

Dr Heba Sarhan

I am a graduate of the School of Architecture at Cairo University. My work through the spectrum of architectural practice, teaching and research shaped my approach towards architectural research that focuses on encounters between the individuals and architectural space. I envision architectural space through observation, exploration and imagination of live scenes. This perspective has an impact on developing my research interests and methodological approach.

After exploring challenges facing the design of the contemporary family dwelling in my PhD, I joined the 'At Home with Children' research project that learns the means for supporting the children's wellbeing through the design of the residential environments. I am interested in developing research methods that explore the individuals' experiences of the built environment and support their active role and creativity in acquiring knowledge. Creative modes of research dissemination are another area of my research activity.
